Gerald J. Comire, Sr., 76, of Woonsocket, passed away August 16, 2024 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of fifty-five years of Diane (Desjardin) Comire of Woonsocket. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Aime Comire and Beatrice (Remillard) Comire Motte.
Mr. Comire served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart. Gerald worked as a manager for Newport Creamery in Woonsocket and Greenville, and was the owner of the former Diane's Variety and J.T.'s Mini Mart, both in Woonsocket, also working as a handyman. He was a fun-loving man who was always willing to give a helping hand, enjoyed fishing and golfing, as well as spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
Along with his wife, Diane, he is survived by his son, Gerald Comire, Jr, of Woonsocket; his daughter, Lisa Comire and her husband, Ronald Rainville, of Cumberland; two brothers, Robert Comire and his wife, Lucille, of Cumberland, and James Motte of California; four sisters, Patricia Huguenin and her husband, John, of North Smithfield, Jeanne Kelbaugh of Woonsocket, Elizabeth Griffin of Hopkinton, RI, and Michelle Nickerson of Hudson, NH; two grandsons, Justin and Brandon Rainville; as well as, many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Ronald, John, Joel, Keith, Daniel, and William Comire.
Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
