Gloria A. Matkowski

Gloria A. (Dantino) Matkowski, 89, of North Smithfield, RI, died Thursday, September 16, 2021 in The Friendly Home, Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late John Matkowski. Born in Milford, she was the daughter of the late Francesco and Margherita (Iennachi) Dantino.



Gloria enjoyed camping with her family and friends in her camper, mainly in RI and Cape Cod, MA. She was an avid reader, especially of newspapers and the Bible.



She is survived by her three sons, John Matkowski, and his wife, Frances of South Windsor, CT, David Matkowski, and his wife, Lori of North Smithfield, and Robert Matkowski, and his wife Theresa of Lincoln; her sister, Ester Patnode and her husband, Milton of Whitinsville, MA; six grandchildren, Jared Matkowski and his wife, Suzanne of Hebron Ct, Nathan Matkowski and his longtimegirlfriend, Melissa Phillips of Manchester, CT, Sarah Matkowski of South Windsor, CT, Michael Matkowski of Lincoln and Alexander and Christopher Matkowski of Uxbridge, MA; three great grandchildren, Addison and Reagan of Hebron, CT and Thomas of Manchester, CT. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Dantino, Rose Guertin, Norma Piccirillo and Antonette Gervasi.



Her funeral will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021 starting with visitation at 10 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main Street, Woonsocket, RI 02895, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM in St. Theresas Church, 630 Rathbun St., Woonsocket, RI 02895. Burial will follow in St. Pauls Cemetery, Farm St., Blackstone, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Padre Pio Foundation of America, www.padrepio.com or the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023. The family requests that masks be worn both during calling hours and for the funeral mass.
