Guy W. Marshall, 69, of North Smithfield, died June 5, 2019 at Heritage Hill Nursing Center, Smithfield. He was the husband of Frances (Mencucci) Marshall. Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the Delina (Forni) Marshall of Coventry and the late Nicholas Marshall.
Guy graduated from North Providence High school. He joined the Air Force and is a Vietnam War Veteran. After his service in the Air Force he continued to serve for many years in the Army Reserves. Guy worked as a hairdresser for most of his life as well as a teaching assistant at Birchwood Middle School, North Providence and part time as a Police Officer in Warwick. Guy loved to dance, was an active member at his church, Ocean State Baptist. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Stephen Olney Elementary School where his wife works.
Besides his wife Frances, Guy is survived by his children, Shawn Gibbson and her husband Gregory of Middletown; Christian Marshall of Pawtucket; and Scott Gould of North Smithfield; two grandchildren, Hannah and Quinn; a brother, Nicholas Marshall and his wife Carole of Thompson, CT; a sister, Patricia Taunton of Cape Cod as well as many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held, June 12, 2019 at 11 AM in Ocean State Baptist Church, 600 Douglas Pike, Smithfield, RI 02917. The family will greet guests 15 minutes prior to service time. Burial will follow in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Church Street, North Smithfield. Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, RI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association, PO Box 41659, Providence, RI 02940.
