Henry Lamontagne Obituary

Henry P. "Hank" "Bib" Lamontagne, 90, of North Smithfield, passed away December 27, 2025 peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. He was the husband of the late Irene (Caouette) Lamontagne. Born in Plymouth, NH he was the son of the late Henry J. Lamontagne and Blanche (Goyette) O'Bara.

Mr. Lamontagne was in the United States Air Force for twenty-one years and served during the Vietnam War. He retired with a rank of Master Sergeant as a missile systems analyst technician.  After bringing his family back home to Rhode Island to join family and purchasing the Caouette family home, he worked as both a carrier and as a box section clerk for the Woonsocket Post Office. He then retired from the US Post Office after 15 years. Henry enjoyed being outdoors hunting, working in his yard, or working on his home, for which he has lived for the past 50 years. He was very meticulous about his cars, his lawn, and his workshop.  There wasn’t one inch of his workshop that didn’t have a label and/or each tool, screw, gadget would have it’s own proper place.  He would also love to watch football, baseball and spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His grandchildren’s fondest memories are of the long walks ‘Pepere’ would take them on whether it was to the park or some other destination he felt they would enjoy.  They also loved the sandwiches Pepere would make for them, with the special touch only he could create.  Henry was a stern military man but had a huge heart and would do anything for anyone, which many of his neighbors would attest to.

He is survived by his two daughters, Linda Lamontagne of North Smithfield, and Laura Levesque and her husband, Michael, of North Smithfield; three grandchildren, Alysha Morrissette, Sarah Levesque, and Ryan Levesque and his wife, Vanessa; as well as his nephew, William Lamontagne who helped with his healthcare. He was the brother of the late Edward Lamontagne.
