J. Robert "Bob" Desmarais

J. Robert "Bob" Desmarais, 87, of Woonsocket, passed away June 18, 2024 in Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of Gail (Tancrell) Desmarais, to whom he was married to for 53 years. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Alfred and Gertrude (Gelinas) Desmarais.

Bob worked as a driver for Wrentham State School. He enjoyed yardwork, going for car rides, trips to the casinos, and going on cruises. Bob also loved animals, especially cats and dogs.

Along with his wife Gail, he is survived by his sister-in-law Debra Luches, and her husband Anthony, of Bellingham, and his niece Sarah Luches of Lincoln. He was the loving father of the late Joseph "Michael" Desmarais. He was the brother in law of the late Gary and Anne Tancrell.

His funeral will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 9 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 1220 Mendon Rd., Woonsocket.. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics RI, 370 George Washington Hwy, Smithfield, RI 02917, or to the Woonsocket Cat Sanctuary, 266 Mendon Rd, Woonsocket, RI 02895.
