John R. "Ron" Kurtz, 84, of Woonsocket, died November 8, 2025 at home. He was the husband of Garrie "Lila" (Levine) Kurtz. Born in Princeton, IN, he was the son of the late John and Helen (Bennett) Kurtz.
Ron worked as an accountant and auditor. Having worked for the city of Providence, he also worked for many other large companies such as CVS, Providence Water, Ames Department Stores, Westinghouse Electric Corporation, and various other public accounting firms. Ron also served in the United States Army Signal Corps during the Vietnam War. He was an active member and volunteer at the First Baptist Church, East Greenwich, having served on missions in other countries and helping communities in need. Ron was also an avid volunteer for the American Red Cross, aiding in disaster relief and emergency responses, he has received regional recognition for his efforts. After retirement, Ron and his wife Lila joined the Woonsocket Senior Center, where they took part in many of the exercise classes, and created many long-lasting friendships.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his sons, John Kurtz, of OH, Dave Kurtz and Allan Kurtz, both of North Kingstown; and his granddaughter, EmmaRose.
His funeral will be held Monday, November 17, 2025, beginning with a visitation from 10AM-12PM followed by a service at 12PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main Street, Woonsocket, RI 02895. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Red Cross, PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839.
