Jacintho Souza Obituary

Jacintho Jesse James Souza succumbed to complications from heart disease on Thursday August 16, 2018. He passed peacefully surrounded by close family and friends. He was born in Fall River, MA. He was the son of the late Adaline Souza and Joseph Bates. Jesse was a graduate of Case High School in Swansea, MA.

He is survived by his domestic partner Geraldine Baszner of Blackstone; former wife Catherine Souza of Cumberland; his children Michael A. Souza and his wife Deborah Souza of Woonsocket, and Mark A. Souza and his wife Nancy Souza of Cumberland. He adored his four grandchildren Katelyn Ann Souza, Brett Read,Nathan A. Souza, and Jarryd W. Souza. He was the brother of the late Donna Carter and Joseph Bates, as well as Robert Bates and also had several nieces and nephews.

Prior to his retirement Jesse was employed as a tractor trailer driver at the former American Steel in Cumberland, and subsequently at Overnight Transportation in Lincoln. After retiring Jesse owned and operated Jesses Auto and Motorcycle Detailing in Bellingham, MA. Jesse was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and attending motorcycle events. He was also a classic car enthusiast and attended many car shows with his 1962 Ford Fairlane, Lizzy and previously with his Chevrolet Corvette. Although he enjoyed these hobbies, what he loved most was spending time with family and friends. From game nights at home or at friends, to trips to Cape Cod, Florida, and New Hampshire, his true passion was his family and friends.

His funeral will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 9:30 from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Pauls Church, St. Paul Street, Blackstone, MA. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be Friday from 5 8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Theresas Shrine, 35 Dion Drive, Harrisville, RI 02830.
