Janice (Cottrill) Porteous

Janice (Cottrill) Porteous, 85, of Woonsocket, passed away July 26, 2024 in the Friendly Home, Woonsocket. Born in New Bedford, MA she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Edith (Bartle) Cottrill.

Janice worked as an assistant for Foster Grandparents for Early Education, where she was affectionately known as "Grandma Jan". She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, that loved to play BINGO, enjoyed shopping and trips to the salon, and was a die-hard Boston Red Sox fan for over fifty years.

She is survived by her four sons, David Porteous and his wife, Catrice, of Manville, Todd Porteous of Charlotte, NC, Gary Porteous of Portland, OR, and Jeffrey Porteous and his wife, Heidi, of Woonsocket; a brother, Ernie Cottrill of South Bend, IN; a sister, Gail Cottrill of Woonsocket; seven grandchildren; and three great granddaughters.

Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
