Jay Barry Darter

Jay Barry Darter, 83 of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2020. He was the husband of Madeline (Audette) Darter. Born in Queens, NY, he was the son of the late Thomas and Isabel (Gershberg) Darter.

Barry, as he was known by his family had a love of baseball, rooting for the New York Yankees and later also the Florida Marlins. He also was proud to be a Little League Coach for his son Michaels team and took them to many first place wins and All-Star wins. He was known for bar-b-queing his famous chicken dinners for friends and family. Barry was a salesman, owning his own companies and later working in home food sales. It was in a home food sale in 1995 that he met Madeline (and introduced himself as Jay.) They were married a year later and eventually moved to Florida. They enjoyed taking cruises together and eating out every Saturday night. He also loved playing pinochle and sharing stories of his grandchildren with his friends.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children Sandi Brenner and her husband Jeremy of Smithfield, and Michael Darter and his wife Jodi of Franklin, MA; his stepchildren Jason Olson of Pawtucket, and Jeremy Olson and his wife Melissa of Warwick; four grandchildren, Erik and Alex Brenner, Jacob Darter, and Janel Olson; his two brothers Gene Darter of Syracuse, NY, and Steven Darter and his wife Diane of Medfield, NJ and his sister Joan Feagelman of Southbury CT. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He loved his family and he will be missed by all.
