Joel G. Therien, 43, of Allston, MA, died March 10, 2021 in St. Elizabeths Medical Center, Brighton, MA. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of Sandra M. (Hulme) Therien of Woonsocket, and the late Paul E. Therien.
Joel was a 1995 graduate of Mt. St. Charles Academy. He received Bachelor Degrees in English and Philosophy from UMass Amherst in 2000. After graduating, he worked as a tour guide at Yellowstone National Park. Joel was later a concierge agent for Circles, Boston, for 18 years. He enjoyed hiking, music festivals, Boston sports, and traveling.
Besides his mother, Sandra, he leaves two brothers, Paul J. Therien of Bristol, and Matthew D. Therien and his wife, Jo-Ann, of Narragansett; eight nieces and nephews, Paige, Jacob, Nathan, Christopher, Anna, Nicholas, Cassy and Peter Therien. He was predeceased by his brothers, Peter and Jean Therien.
His funeral will be held Friday, March 19, 2021, beginning with visitation at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Josephs Church 1200 Mendon Road, Woonsocket and may be viewed live at https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/5474138 Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Farm St., Blackstone, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to Community Care Alliance, PO Box 1700, Woonsocket, RI 02895, or to HopeHealth Hospice, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
