John C. Briere

John C. Briere, 76, of Woonsocket, died November 9, 2024 in his home. He was the husband of Claire (Laberge) Briere, whom he married November 20, 1971. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Aurele and Claire (Cavanaugh) Briere.

Mr. Briere was a Boiler Mechanic for Coast to Coast, and later, CPS. He was an Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Mr. Briere was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America.

Besides his wife, Claire, he leaves their son, Arthur Briere of Woonsocket; two brothers, William Briere of Diamond Head, MS and Raymond Briere of Richmond, TX; his sister, Paulette Martin of Lincoln; two grandchildren, Erin and Dylan of WA; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, John Briere, Jr.; two brothers, Thomas and David Briere; and two sisters, Jeannette Hazinski and Lucille Turgeon.

His service will be held Tuesday, November 19, 2024, beginning with visitation at 9 AM, followed by a service with Military Honors at 10 AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Providence VA Medical Center, 830 Chalkstone Ave, Providence, RI 02908.
