John J. Cavanaugh

John J. Cavanaugh, 79, of Providence, died October 19, 2025 in Bethany Home, Providence. He was the husband of the late Betty (Graiko) Cavanaugh. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late John and Loretta (Martin) Cavanaugh Sr.

John was a veteran of the US Navy. He earned his associates degree from Johnson and Wales and he worked as a supervisor for Nyman Manufacturing for over 30 years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends by the pool, playing canasta and had a hobby of model trains. He will be remembered for his smile and sense of humor.

He is survived by his children, Kerri Berman and her husband Andrew Berman, of Millville, MA, and Eric Cavanaugh and his partner Aimee Dawkins of Harrisville, RI; and his granddogs.

His funeral will be held Monday, October 27, 2025 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church Street, Slatersville. Burial will follow in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI. Calling hours are Sunday, October 26, 2025 from 1-4PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
