John E. Dodge of Woonsocket, RI, died on September 26, 2025 in St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield. He was 95.
John was born in Providence, RI, the son of the late John and Alice (McHugh) Dodge. He grew up in Cranston and attended LaSalle Academy. John graduated from Providence College in 1951. He served in the Army, which included a tour of duty in Tokyo, Japan. He worked in the laboratory at Zambarano Hospital in Burrillville for 35 years, retiring in 1985.
In retirement, he and his wife Alice traveled; he volunteered his time with the local chapter of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) as well as Meals on Wheels. He was active in his church since joining St. Agatha’s Parish in the early 1960s.
John was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Alice. He is survived by his daughter, Mary and her husband, Joe.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff of St. Antoine’s for the support and compassion they provided to John.
John’s funeral will be held Friday, October 24, 2025 at St. Agatha’s Church, 34 Joffre Ave, Woonsocket, beginning with visitation in the church at 9AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to RI Community Food Bank, an organization he supported quietly for years, or St. Antoine’s Residence whose staff supported him. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket.
