Joseph A. DeChristofaro, 85, of North Smithfield, died April 26, 2026 in Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of Barbara (Galvin) DeChristofaro, whom he was married to for 67 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Angelo and Gertrude (Martin) DeChristofaro.
Joseph and his wife were foster parents for over 20 years, helping many children in those years. He enjoyed camping, playing cards spending time at his home in Florida and family. He was a roofer by trade and was know to be able to fix anything he put his mind to.
Along with his wife, Barbara, he is survived by their children, Joseph DeChristofaro and his wife Mona of Woonsocket, Daniel DeChristofaro of Murfreesboro, Lori DeChristofaro, Lisa Gillespie and Lloyd Watler, all of Cumberland; his ten grandchildren, Jonathan, Wesley, Natalie, Maria, Chazmin, Zion, Sonjai, Anthony, Gabriel and Rosaland; and three great-grandchildren, Ava, Darius and Mila. Also, Kathy Hartnett of Kentucky. He was predeceased by his brothers, Edward and Angelo DeChristofaro.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2026 beginning with visitation at 4PM, followed by a service at 6PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main Street, Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hasbro Children's Hospital.
