Joseph R. "Joe" Dias, Sr.

Joseph R. “Joe” Dias, Sr., 85, of Woonsocket, died on December 3, 2024 in Landmark Medical Center surrounded by his family. Known as "Joe" to all who knew him. He was the husband of Ernestine Susan (Panknin) Dias of Woonsocket. Born in Celorico da Beira, Portugal, he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Gaspar) Dias.

Joe was a veteran of the armed forces in Portugal. He worked as an assembler for General Motors of Framingham, MA. He also was the owner/operator of various local businesses, such as Dias Variety, and The Main Street 2000 restaurant. He was always quick to help out those customers in need within his community. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching sports, traveling, and days spent at the beach with his wife.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 58 wonderful years, and is also survived by his children, Joseph Dias, Jr. and his wife, Minire, of Woonsocket, Jane Gabriele and her significant other, Jesse Lesieur, of Woonsocket, and Michael R. Dias and his wife, Laura, of Mapleville; his siblings, Margarida Diogo and Manuel Dias, both of Woonsocket, Antonio Dias of Portugal and Emilia Lambert of North Smithfield; two grandchildren, Ariana Gabriele and Tyler Dias; two grand dogs, Zeus and Gracie; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Francisco Dias.

Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main Street, Woonsocket.
