Joseph "Jonesy" M. Jones, 78, of Charlestown, passed away May 11, 2025 in South County Hospital. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Robert and Stasia (Jaskiel) Jones.
Mr. Jones proudly served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Jonesy was the owner of the former Rose and Crown Pub and Hanson's Landing. He also worked at several other restaurants and bars in South County and on Block Island, where he also worked as a taxi driver. Jonesy had a larger-than-life personality, was the epitome of optimism, and was always there to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his sister, Debra Todd and her husband, Wayne, of Slatersville, his nieces, Jennifer Lauzier of Franklin, MA, and Wendy Fies and her husband, Juan, of North Smithfield; his nephew, Christopher Todd and his companion, Amy Noble, of Woonsocket; and his great nieces, Ashley Lauzier, Gabrielle Lauzier, and Stasia Todd.
His funeral will be held Sunday, May 18, 2025 beginning with visitation at 1 PM followed by a service at 3 PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
