Joyce Hazard Cooke, 57, passed away at home on May 8, 2026.
Joyce was born in Cranston, Rhode Island. She was the daughter of the late Walter E. Hazard and the late Hazel G. Hazard and spent her childhood in Scituate, Rhode Island.
Joyce found joy in life's simple pleasures and had a deep love for the outdoors. She enjoyed gardening, camping, and spending time surrounded by nature. She was the owner and operator of Forever Green Landscaping for many years, where her strong work ethic and attention to detail were evident in everything she did. She also spent many years making pies alongside her family at Hazard's Indian Rock Orchard, where she earned the nickname, "Apple Joyce."
Those who knew Joyce will remember her as a kind, caring, beautiful, and loving person with a gentle spirit. She treasured time spent with her family and had a special place in her heart for her beloved cats and dogs. Her warmth, kindness, compassion, and quiet generosity touched the lives of many and will be remembered always.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Richard Cooke; her brother, Thomas Hazard and his wife, Lynn Hazard; her brother, Robert Hazard and his wife, Lisa Hazard; her sister, Janet Misiaszek; and her sister-in-law, Donna Laplante. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she adored. In addition to her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her brother, David Hazard, and her sister-in-law, Romona Lynn Costa.
Joyce will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A private celebration of life will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 S. Main St., Woonsocket, RI 02895
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA), 155 Plan Way, Warwick, RI 02886, in Joyce's memory. Her love for animals and her kindhearted nature will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
