Joyce M. (Moran) Plante

Joyce M. (Moran) Plante, 83, of North Smithfield, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family December 19, 2024. She is greatly loved and will be missed dearly. She was the wife of Oscar J. Plante, former state plumbing inspector and plumbing and mechanical inspector for the City of Woonsocket, until his retirement in 2006, whom she married December 1, 1972. Born in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Edna M. (Roberts) Moran, and the sister of the late June C. (Moran) Stein.

Joyce worked in the Woonsocket School System for many years, later becoming a Real Estate agent, and partner of First Choice Realty. She loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren. Joyce loved working in her gardens and yard as well as walking for many miles daily in her Slatersville neighborhood.

She is survived by her children, Kurt J. Courtemanche and his wife, Karen, of Franklin, Amy E. Courtemanche-Skalubinski of Slatersville, and Drew P. Courtemanche of Woonsocket; and was predeceased by her son Neil C. Courtemanche, and her step-sons Ronald and Russell "Rusty" Plante. Also survived by her step-son, Richard Plante and his wife, Leslie, their two daughters and their families; step-daughter in law, Eileen Plante and her children, Jay and Jodi Plante and their families; her grandchildren, Kyle P. Courtemanche and his wife, Erin, Kara E. Courtemanche, Emily J. (Skalubinski) Chelo and her husband, Brendon, and Neil J. Skalubinski; her great-grandchildren, Ava, Kolton, and Kole Courtemanche, and Brooke Chelo.

Private services are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St. Woonsocket.
