Juan Alvarez-Torres

Juan Alvarez-Torres, 86, of Woonsocket, died March 15, 2021 in Woonsocket Health Rehab Center. He was the husband of the late Raquel (Mattos) Alvarez. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late German and Alicia (Torres) Alvarez.

Mr. Alvarez-Torres was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, and worked in the Woonsocket area as a painter, and formerly worked for Ideal Precision Meter in New York. He was an avid New York Yankees fan, and enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his son, Juan Alvarez of Woonsocket; his brother, Eduardo Alvarez of Puerto Rico; eight grandchildren, Jason Roman, Francisco Rivera, Lissandra Cortorreal, and Tiffany, Jaymes, John, Jayson, and Justin Alvarez, as well as, twenty-five great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Maria and Aileen Alvarez, and brother of the late Louie, Enrique, German, Raphael, and Anna Alvarez.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 26, 2021 from 4 - 6 pm in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. All other services will be private.
