Judith Merritt Obituary

Judith A. (Renaud) Merritt, 71, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 13, in the ICU at Landmark Medical Center. Her loving family was by her side.

Judy was the daughter of the late Elphege and Alice (Lavimodiere) Renaud. She is survived by her two sisters, Suzanne Lacroix and her husband Roland of Bradenton, FL, and Celine Hulme and her husband Bill of Cumberland, RI. Judy is also survived by a niece Roxane Lozich and nephew Robert M. Renaud, both of Tinley Park, IL, and her great nieces and nephew, Rebecca, Sarah, and Bobby Renaud, all from Illinois. She was pre-deceased by her brother Robert Renaud.

Judy was a lifelong Woonsocket resident and proud of this heritage. She worked at CVS / Mark Stevens for nearly 40 years, most recently in inventory control, before retiring in 2014. Her coworkers were her friends who she cared for and loved. Judy would organize retiree get togethers to always keep in touch with everyone.

Judy had numerous interests. She could crochet and sew, loved the many dogs and other pets she cared for in her life, dabbled in fine cooking, and enjoyed visiting local and Las Vegas casinos. She sewed hundreds of masks during the Covid pandemic and donated them to those in need. She was gregarious and always a joy to be around. Although challenged by some health issues, she would somehow always find a way to smile through it. Her laugh was infectious. She was kind and generous to all, and always ready to lend a hand. She was truly a one-of -a-kind family member and friend. You are lucky if you have someone like Judy in your life. Judy's family and friends will continue her tradition of "Dining on the Deck" to share love, friendship and an abundance of food. Judy will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St, Woonsocket, RI. Per Judy's wishes, there will be no calling hours or church service. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the ASPCA or any other charitable organization in Judy's memory would make Judy so happy.
