Kenneth Peloquin, D.D.S. Obituary

Kenneth L. Peloquin, D.D.S., 80, of North Smithfield, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on May 4, 2026.  He was the husband of Ann (McNamee) Peloquin. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of Feora (Caselli) Peloquin of Cumberland, and the late Laurent Peloquin.

Ken grew up in Cumberland and graduated from Cumberland High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Assumption College and a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Georgetown University. Following graduation, Ken worked in a Mobile Dental Unit throughout upper Michigan for the U.S. Coast Guard Office of Health Services. Searching for more adventure, he spent a year practicing dentistry in Norway’s public health program. Upon his return, he established Dental Associates of Northern Rhode Island, where he practiced alongside his cherished and dedicated staff for more than 40 years - many who remain at the practice today.

A committed and active member of his community, Ken dedicated his time to various organizations in North Smithfield, including youth sports and local government boards. Notably, he served on the Industrial Development Committee, chaired the North Smithfield Budget Committee, and was a valued board member of the North Smithfield Fire and Rescue Association.

With a strong adventurous spirit, Ken embraced a variety of athletic pursuits throughout his life. A lover of the outdoors, he spent his early years hiking, backpacking, skiing and sailing, including competing in the Marion to Bermuda Race. Later, he developed a passion for bicycling, joining many Narragansett Bay Wheelman Sunday rides and completing two Pan-Mass Challenge rides across Massachusetts, in his early 70s.

A social person by nature, Ken had an easy way of connecting with just about anyone he met. He loved bringing people together wherever he went, which is how he earned the nickname “the Ambassador” among his ski group friends.

He approached life with a deep sense of curiosity and a commitment to lifelong learning. An avid reader and lover of bookstores, he was always eager to discover something new. With a particular fondness for maps, he never passed a rest stop without exploring every pamphlet available, always searching for the next place to explore. He loved to travel, often combining his adventures with his passions for skiing, bicycling, and golf.

He will be deeply missed by his family, who carry forward his memory and spirit.

Along with his wife Ann and mother Feora, he is survived by his children Alexis Chan (Matthew) and Mark Peloquin; grandchildren Nora and Colin Chan, all of Boston, MA; his sister Christine Johnson (Steven) of Poland, ME; his sister-in-law Peggy Sarault (Brian) of North Providence, RI; and his niece Erika Sahlman (Jeremy) of Pownal, ME. He is predeceased by his beloved nephew, Karl Johnson.

The family would like to thank Paulette LaPerche, Cindy Duquette, and Anissa Vargas for their friendship and the excellent care he received.
