Louis H. Lamoureux, 78, of Smithfield, died January 21, 2024 in Lakeside Nursing and Rehab, North Kingston. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Paul and Julia (Corey) Lamoureux.
Louis was a Principal for twenty-eight years, at McFee Elementary, Bernon Heights, Citizens Memorial and Pothier Elementary Schools. After retiring he worked at the Blackstone River Federal Credit Union and CVS. He was very involved in his community as a member of the Local Jaycee's, Woonsocket Democratic Committee, and he also helped with the local Milk Fund. Louis’ real passion was the local amateur theatre, Theater Works, where he directed, acted and produced twenty plus shows over the years!
He is survived by his children, Amy Lamoureux of Cranston, Corey Lamoureux of Woonsocket and Kevin Lamoureux and his wife Christine, of Attleboro; his sister, Paula Hurteau and her husband Raymond, of Woonsocket; five grandchildren, Christina, Anthony, Madison, Mackenzie and Michaela; his great-grandson, Hayden; many nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Mary Lamoureux of Wakefield.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 9AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main Street, Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Joseph's Church, 1200 Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Calling hours are Monday from 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Margret McGill Scholarship Fund 68 Cumberland Rd, Woonsocket RI 02895.
