Margaret J. Lee, 80, of Summer Street, Blackstone died April 6, 2021, at home after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Thomas F. Lee, Jr. whom she married December 28, 1963. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Francis L. Kennedy and Anna Dolly Wayland. Margaret graduated from Blackstone High School, then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Worcester State College and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Anna Maria College in Paxton. She worked for the Blackstone Public Schools from 1962-2002, beginning as a 2nd grade teacher at the old Waterford School and retiring from Blackstone-Millville Regional School District as a school adjustment counselor. She thoroughly enjoyed teaching students throughout the years. Margaret also spent 25 years as a substance abuse counselor at Tri-Hab in Woonsocket.
She was a former member of the Ladies Hibernian Club at St. Pauls Church and a life-long parishioner. She taught CCD and Catholic Marriage Prep Class with her husband Tom.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her two grandsons, gardening in her yard, and the traveling adventures she took with her husband, on cruises in the Caribbean and the Maritimes, trips to Ireland with friends, and visits to California.
Margaret is survived by two sons, Terrence M. Lee of Oakland, CA and Thomas F. Lee, III of Woonsocket, RI; a daughter, Colleen J. Folster and her husband Jeremy of Blackstone; brothers, Joseph Patrick Kennedy and William W. Kennedy of San Antonio, TX; John E. Kennedy and his wife Marilyn of Ocala, FL; sisters Mary C. Maloney and her husband Paul of Blackstone and Kathleen A. Wood and her husband William of Newport, RI; and two grandsons, Brady and Brendan Folster. She was the sister of the late Francis Michael Kennedy of Uxbridge and the late Terrence A. Kennedy of Blackstone.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, April 10, 2021 beginning with visitation at 9:30AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in St. Pauls Church, 48 St. Paul St., Blackstone and may be viewed live online at https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/55978050 Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
