Margaret Maher

Margaret Maher, 99, of North Smithfield, passed away January 27, 2024 in St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Hession) Maher.

Ms. Maher received a Bachelor's Degree from URI and a Master's Degree from Boston University before working as a teacher in the Woonsocket School Department. Margaret also worked as a counselor with the Girl Scouts in Meredith, NH for many years. She was a talented seamstress, and enjoyed gardening and traveling.

She is survived by her nephew and godson, Kevin Maher and his wife, Doreen, of Milford, MA. She was the sister of the late James Maher and Ellen Maher.

Her funeral will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 beginning with visitation at 8:30 AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Charles Church, 8 Daniels St, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery, Farm St., Blackstone. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the URI Foundation & Alumni Engagement online at https://www.uri.edu/giving/
