Mary F. (Mullaly) Gelineau

Mary F. (Mullaly) Gelineau, 80, of Blackstone, MA. passed away December 4, 2023 at home. She was the wife of the late James J. Gelineau. Mary was born in Woonsocket, RI., and was raised in Millville MA. She was the daughter of the late James E. and Frances A. (Trainor) Mullaly.

Mary was a 1960 graduate of St. Mary's Central Catholic High School, Milford, MA. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from Worcester State College in 1964 and received her Master of Science in Education Degree from Lesley University in 1992. Mary was a truly gifted educator who dedicated her professional career to working with the children of the town of Bellingham, MA. For forty years Mary worked as a second grade teacher, first at Pinecrest Elementary School then at the former South, now DiPietro Elementary School. After her retirement in 2004, Mary spent her time doing what she loved and continued to substitute teach in Bellingham for another twelve years. She also was a member of the Retired State and Municipal Employees of MA. Mary always enjoyed reading a good book, working on her crossword puzzles every day, crocheting until the yarn was gone, and most especially, spending time with her family.

She leaves her daughter, Lisa Mendes and her husband, David, of Blackstone, MA.; and her cherished granddaughter, Sarah Mendes of Blackstone, MA. She was the devoted sister of the late James Mullaly of Millville, MA..

Her funeral will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2023 beginning with visitation from 9 - 10:30 AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in Divine Mercy Parish at St. Paul's Church, 48 St. Paul St., Blackstone. Burial will be private.
