MaryAnne Guy Obituary

MaryAnne Guy, 91, of Harrisville, passed away peacefully February 9, 2025 at home surrounded by her loved ones after an illness. She was the wife of the late Ulysses Guy, a Marine Corps WWII Iwo Jima survivor, who received the Purple Heart for injuries sustained there. Born at home in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Adrien and Florence (Labonte) Blanchette. She grew up in Woonsocket, but lived in Burrillville for the last 24 years.

MaryAnne graduated from St. Clare High School in 1951. She worked as a secretary for Finklesteins after high school, then worked as head teller for Woonsocket Institute for Savings. MaryAnne then went on to work at the Woonsocket School Department as the secretary to the director of special education for 20 years, retiring in 1988. She was a past president of the Globe Park Elementary School PTA, and a member of the Merry Wives Club. She traveled extensively to many countries throughout the world. MaryAnne love her family tremendously, especially her grandchildren and pets. She was always smiling, and was the kindest person you could ever know, always putting everyone first and making everyone feel special. MaryAnne loved swimming, enjoying her backyard, feeding her birds, and playing her organ.

She leaves her daughter, Linda Peck, and her husband, Steven, of Harrisville; her grandchildren, Jessica Cowan, Don Thomas Cowan and his wife, Sara, Chad Cowan, Jennifer Beauchemin and her husband, Scott, and Richard Beauchemin; her great grandson, Jameson Cowan; many nieces and nephews; and her cat, Goldie. She was predeceased by her daughters, Debra Guy, Patricia Beauchemin and her husband, Richard, and Kimberly Cowan and her husband, Curtis; two sisters, Julie Bedard and Germaine Bourget.

Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an animal shelter of the donors' choice.
