Maurice Proulx Obituary

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Maurice F. Proulx, 88, of Middletown, RI, who peacefully left us on January 19, 2025. He was born in Woonsocket to the late Wilfred and Emilia (St. Jean) and was one of six children.

A proud veteran, Maurice served in the United States Air Force for 12 years. While on leave, he met his wife, Lorraine (Egan) Proulx, at a regular Saturday night dance in downtown Woonsocket. Their meeting marked the beginning of a life filled with love, adventure, and shared memories for over 60 years. Together, they found joy in traveling and exploring new places, always treasuring each other's company.

After his time in the Air Force, Maurice went on to pursue a career as a mechanical engineer. He spent the majority of his professional life at Fenwal Electronics, where he designed thermal sensors for the space program. His work was a testament to his skill and passion for engineering, and he was widely respected by colleagues and peers alike.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Maurice was a kind-hearted and multi-talented individual. He took great pride in his woodworking hobby, even building a replica of the Titanic with his brother-in-law, Ted Wrenn. Known for his resourcefulness, he was a true jack of all trades, always willing to lend a hand and share his knowledge with others.

Along with his wife Lorraine, he is survived by his children; Michelle Nutter and her husband Edward of Haverhill, MA, Michael Proulx and his fiancée Karen Weavill of Lincoln, RI, and Ann Motta and her husband James of Portsmouth, RI; including his grandchildren, Sarina Leclerc and her father Daniel Leclerc, Alexander, Ryan, and Grace Proulx and their mother Lisa Boisvert Blasé, and Casey Motta. He will also be missed by his seven sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Normand Proulx, Jeannette Allard, Helen Braceley, Pauline Wrenn, and Robert Proulx.

Maurice was a devoted family man, and his legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his generosity, sense of humor, and the lasting impact he made on everyone who had the privilege of being in his life.

We want to thank the staff of Grand Islander in Middletown, RI for their care and dedication while Maurice was there. Our family is grateful to you all.
