Muriel Cote Obituary

Muriel T. (Richer) Cote, 96, of North Smithfield, died December 3, 2024 in her home. She was the wife of the late Robert A. Cote, to whom she was happily married 71 years. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Donat and Lucia (Roy) Richer.

Muriel was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She played an essential role in the nurturing and upbringing of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Muriel's unwavering support allowed her husband to work long hours, knowing their home was cared for, allowing them to build a lasting legacy for their family. She held dear and often reminisced the Wednesday outings she shared with her mother and sisters. They continued the tradition long after their mothers passing. What joy, laughter, support and love they shared in each others company.

She leaves her children, Rachel Poethke and her husband, Hans, of North Smithfield and Gary Cote and his wife, Diane, of Harrisville; her sister, Jeanne Morin of Woonsocket; six grandchildren, Colin Stack and his wife, Kate, Ryan Stack and his wife, Cherie, Alison Cote, Mallory Laprade and her husband, Mike, Gregory Cote and his partner, Erin Hayes, and Carolyn Weigold and her husband, George; seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey Cote; her brothers, Robert, Roger, Raymond and Gerald Richer; and two sisters, Estelle Richer and Viviane Ayotte, whom Muriel was still grieving the recent passing of.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses from Continuum Hospice for the dedicated care and support they provided to Muriel in her final days. Their compassion made a significant difference during this time.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2024, beginning with visitation from 9:15-9:45 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Holy Trinity Church, 1409 Park Ave. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
