Nelson F. Poirier

Nelson F. Poirier passed away at 79 years old on March 25, 2024 in Miriam Hospital. He was born in Woonsocket, RI and most recently lived in Cumberland. He was the son of the late Walter and Theresa (Rodrigues) Poirier.

Nelson worked as a steeple jack and enjoyed playing tennis and swimming in his free time. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting at Narragansett beach and soaking in the sun by the ocean with friends. He enjoyed clamming and quahogging with his kids, but above all he loved going to visit and spend time with his children and grandchildren. He was an exceptionally proud father and grandfather, taking pride in all of their achievements. Nelson is already deeply missed.

Nelson is survived by his five siblings, his four children:  Jessica Matous and Christopher Poirier, both of Washington State, and Amanda and Adam Grenier, both of Woonsocket, and three grandchildren: Sarah, Emma, and Nathan Matous.

Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. A memorial service, in which family and friends will be invited, will be held over the summer and posted at a later date.
