Nicholas P. Shaw, 35, of Upton, MA, died August 22, 2024 at UMass Memorial Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Lisa (Salois) Shaw of Upton, Ma. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of Mary (Reilly) Shaw of North Smithfield and Adam H. Shaw of North Smithfield.
Nick was a generous, loving, funny, brave, unforgettable, bigger than life individual. From endless adventures with his twin brother Tyler as a young child, to playing lacrosse with RI lax as a teen, Nick poured his heart into everything he was involved in. Those who knew Nick knew his love for cars, and maybe if you were lucky, you got a ride in his beloved blue lagoon VW GLI. As Nick grew, so did his love for architecture and design. After graduating from ITT Tech, he took the first of many big steps in his life, taking a chance and going to work for AHA in Lexington, MA. After achieving title of Associate, he was then ready for a bigger challenge, accepting the position of VDC Manger with Whiting-Turner. During his time with WT, Nick was able to further his skills, knowledge, network and most importantly, foster new friendships. Nick took significant pride in his work, always striving to somehow outdo his previous project.
Unfortunately, on January 8th, 2022, Nick was thrown the toughest challenge of his life. After suffering with severe headaches, Nick was transferred to Brigham and Women's where a large mass was emergently removed from his head, which ultimately was diagnosed as a grade 4 Astrocytoma, an aggressive and terminal form of brain cancer. Throughout his 2.5 year battle, Nick faced every challenge head on, determined to beat the odds given to him. Sadly, Nick lost his courageous and valiant battle, doing what he loved, with those he loved. Nicks passing will leave a large void with all those who knew him.
Along with Lisa and his parents, he is survived by his sons, Carter and Bryson Shaw of Upton; his twin brother Tyler Shaw and his wife Kymberly, along with their daughter (Nick's niece) Riley, of Blackstone; his paternal grandmother, Meredith Holt Cassick of Bristol; his maternal grandparents, Patrick and Joyce Reilly of North Smithfield; Susan Shaw, wife of Adam Shaw and his beloved chocolate lab, Mr. Moose.
A visitation will be held Friday, August 30, 2024 from 4-7PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main Street, Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to "Shaw Boys Carter and Bryson" at Citizens Bank; checks may be mailed to 71 Fiske Mill Rd. Upton, Ma 01568.
