Norman L. Javarey, 85, of Woonsocket, passed away September 13, 2025. He was born in 1940 in Cumberland RI to William and Ruth (Tedford) Javarey. He was predeceased by two brothers, William and Donald and a sister, Lucille Javarey.
Norm is survived by his beloved wife Mary (Hammann), daughters Terri Hodson (Michael), Susan Rioux (Steven), and Sarah Hendee. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Katherine, Sarah, Kelsey and Joshua and many nieces and nephews. Norm was also the devoted father of Nicholas Hendee who died in 1990. During the year of Nick’s illness and death, he held his family together with his quiet strength and steadfast love.
Norm took great pride in his work as a machine operator at Proma Technologies, formerly Dennison Manufacturing. He was proud to be selected as part of a team that traveled to Germany and Wales to assist with machine operations. While working full time, he earned a B.S. in Business from Johnson & Wales University in 2001. Norm was also a U.S. Army veteran.
One of his favorite activities was participating in the annual Marcus Foundation Golf Tournament to benefit brain tumor research. He also loved watching the Little League World Series, and attended the event in 2008. It was his and Mary’s best vacation where they met people from all over the world.
Norm was a gentle, soft hearted man who will be missed immeasurably by those who loved him.
His funeral service will be held Friday, October 3, 2025 at the Holt Funeral Home, 510 S. Main St., Woonsocket with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM followed by a brief service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Farm St., Blackstone, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, TN
