Normand Laplume, 92, of Woonsocket, died November 30, 2020 in The Friendly Home. He was the husband of the late Eleanor (Marcil) Laplume, whom he married November 25, 1948. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Ovila and Germaine (LHeureux) Laplume.
Normand worked for the former Mark Stevens. He was a Conductor and Trustee for the RI State Marshalls F.O.P.A Lodge 24, where he was honored several times for his efforts and dedication, and was also an auxiliary Woonsocket Police Officer. Normand was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed travelling.
He leaves his children, Gloria Cavalieri and her husband, Dominick of Woonsocket, Susan Malo and her husband, Richard of North Smithfield, and Carol Picard and her husband, Thomas, of Woonsocket; three brothers, Gerry Laplume of Woonsocket, Raymond Laplume of Maine, and Marcel Laplume of Millville, MA; two sisters Lucille Vitello and Pauline Noel, both of Woonsocket; six grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers, Emile and Gilbert Laplume, and his sister, Georgette Deshaies.
Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or at www.stjude.org
