Normand Parent Obituary

Normand A. Parent, 102, of Woonsocket, died December 11, 2025 at St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield, with his family by his side. He was the husband of Murielle (Belisle) Parent. They would have been married 46 years this month. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Adelbert and Belva (Brunelle) Parent.

Mr. Parent served in the Army during WWII, with the 10th Mountain Division in Italy. He then went on to work for General Motors, where he was nicknamed "Tick Tock" because he repaired watches, retiring in 1987. He was also a member of the United Auto Workers. Mr. Parent enjoyed gardening and being a snowbird. When interviewed by the Valley Breeze prior to his 100th birthday and asked what his secret to longevity was he said having a nice family around him has helped him live a long and fulfilling life. He will forever be remembered for his endless hugs for everyone. He was a kind man with a positive outlook on life and loved everyone he met.

Besides his wife, Murielle, he leaves his two daughters, Nancy Aubin of Woonsocket and Marilyn Finnegan and her husband, Denis, of Clermont, FL; two stepdaughters Betty Bibeault and her husband, Paul, of Woonsocket, and Susan Turcotte of Blackstone; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Ralph Parent; his stepson Earl Minot; five brothers, Raymond, Robert, Leo, Adelbert, Jr. and Albert Parent; and two sisters, Yolande Bessette and Theresa Maclure.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the incredible staff in SCU, at St. Antoine, for their love, compassion, support and care extended to both he and his wife during this difficult time.

His funeral will be held Saturday, December 20, 2025, beginning with visitation from 8:15 - 9:15 AM at the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Trinity Church, 1409 Park Ave., Woonsocket. His favorite color was pink so please feel free to wear pink to celebrate him and a life well lived. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the RI Fire Chiefs Honor Flight, PO Box 28132, Providence, RI 02908-3700, in honor of the 2018 flight to Washington, DC that Mr. Parent was able to participate in through this organization.
