Rev. Arthur B. Robertshaw III

ROBERTSHAW, Reverend Arthur Bentham, III, passed away on October 13, 2023 in North Branford, Connecticut. He was the son of the late Arthur Bentham Robertshaw, Jr. and the late Florence E. Robertshaw (nee Staples).

Reverend Robertshaw was born on November 10, 1927 at 612 South Main Street in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. He was a proud resident of Woonsocket until his graduation from Moses Brown School in 1945. Reverend Robertshaw went on to Yale University where he graduated in the Class of 1948. He continued at Yale and graduated from Berkeley Divinity School in 1952 and was ordained in the Episcopal Church on June 19, 1952.

Upon his ordination, Reverend Robertshaw was assigned as an Assistant Minister of St. John's Parish of West Hartford, Connecticut. In 1955, he became Priest-in-Charge of St. John's by the Sea in West Haven, Connecticut. In 1964, Reverend Robertshaw became the Rector of the Church of the Holy Advent in Clinton, Connecticut, where he served until his retirement in 1987.

Arthur was an avid reader and great intellect. His honesty, dry wit and compassion will be missed by his family and friends, including so many at Evergreen Woods in North Branford, Connecticut. Sincere thanks go out to the staff of Evergreen Woods for their years of friendship and care.

There will be a graveside service at Union Cemetery, Smithfield Road, Smithfield, Rhode Island at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 21, 2023. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice in Arthur's memory.
