Robert "Bob" Poisson

Robert "Bob" Poisson, 85, of North Smithfield, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026.

Bob was the longtime owner of Gene's Auto Body Works in Manville, Rhode Island, which he proudly operated from 1977 until his retirement in 2006. He was known for his strong work ethic, dedication to his craft, and the relationships he built with customers and the community over many years.

He enjoyed spending time with his family whom he cherished deeply.

He was a proud member of the Whitinsville Fish and Game Club. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also found joy in gardening, and caring for the many German Shepards he had over the years.

Born in Manville, Rhode Island he was the son of the late Eugene and Anna (Sarreault) Poisson.

He was the beloved husband of Lucille (Latour) Poisson, with whom he shared 64 devoted years of marriage.

He was a loving father to Sandra Greve and her husband Paul of North Attleboro, Debra Kortschinsky and her husband Thomas of North Smithfield, and Robert Poisson and his wife Carol of Manville. He was predeceased by his son David, and is also survived by his daughter-in-law Laurie of Burrillville.

In addition to his children, he is survived by his siblings Muriel Bertrand of Virginia, Ronald Poisson of Florida, Lori Auger of Florida, and Roland Poisson of Massachussets, and was predeceased by his brother Eugene Poisson.

Robert was a proud and devoted grandfather to Tracey, Tammy, Kristy, Alyssa, Amanda, Amy, Joshua, Allison, step grandsons Mathew and the late Timothy, and a cherished great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren.

He will be remembered for his love of family and friends.

His funeral will be held Monday, April 20, 2026 at 10 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 S. Main St, Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church St, Slatersville. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 1 - 4PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bradley Hospital Foundation, Attn: CADD Partial, P.O. Box H, Providence, RI 02901.
