Ruth Edythe Lambert, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, with her loving family by her side. Born in Woonsocket to the late Edythe M. and Robert W. Stearns, Ruth was a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, and dear friend to all who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Louis G. Lambert of Glendale, RI, with whom she celebrated 56 years of marriage. Ruth leaves her sister Alice Phaneuf (late husband Leo) of Warwick, her sister Carol Gauvin (Roland) of Cumberland, and is pre-deceased by her brother David Stearns (Claire) of Burrillville. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, Beth Losardo, Janet Lynch, Christine Phaneuf, Leigh-Ann Plante, Michael Gauvin, Renee Boulay, Susan Sionni, the late Matthew Stearns, Bruce Courtemanche, and Lisa Thivierge, as well as several great nieces and nephews.
Ruth held a meaningful career as a Customer Service Representative at AT Cross for 32 years. In her spare time, Ruth enjoyed baking, delivering for Meals on Wheels, volunteering in various capacities within her church community, serving a role as a foster parent, being a member of the Red Hatters Society, and cultivating many beautiful memories traveling with her husband. Ruth always showed a generous, kind, and compassionate spirit and cherished her family, who will forever hold her close in their hearts and miss her dearly.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 2:00pm - 4:00pm on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, September 22, 2025, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 1 Smith Ave., Greenville. Burial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth's memory can kindly be made to a charity of choice.
