Stanley Mowry, Jr. Obituary

Stanley H. Mowry, Jr., 89, of North Smithfield, died May 15, 2025 in Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Jacqueline (Provost) Mowry whom he married April 4, 1959. Born in Milford, MA, he was the son of the late Stanley Mowry, Sr. and Dorothy (Lapham) Mowry.

Mr. Mowry worked as a machinist for the former Industrial Tool, Smithfield. In his retirement Stanley also worked for local funeral homes in his spare time. He was a volunteer firefighter for Primrose Fire Station, North Smithfield, serving in past years as president and vice president.

Stanley graduated from the Woonsocket High School Class of 1955. He served with the 118th Engineer Battalion of the Army National Guard. He was also a member of the Mowry Family Association, as well as, the North Smithfield Heritage Association. Stan loved camping with his family and they visited every state in the USA. He also loved to read western novels, especially the Wagon West series. When his youngest daughter Sarah-Lynn was 11, they drove out to Nebraska and did a four day trek on the Oregon Trail in a covered wagon, living like pioneers. Besides camping and square dancing, he and his wife traveled all over the world including Europe, Australia, China, Africa, and South America. He was a kind and caring gentleman, always putting his family first.

Along with his wife, Jacqueline, he is survived by their daughters; Mary Ellen Daron and her husband, Michael, of North Providence, Beth Ann Mikos and her husband, David, of North Haven, CT, and Sarah-Lynn St. Vincent and her husband, Matthew, of North Smithfield; eight grandchildren, Nathaniel Beane, Jacob, Patrick, and David Mikos, Declan and Reilly St. Vincent, and Matthew and Aaron Kucharski; and one great grandson, Callum Mikos. He was the father of the late Stanley "Skippy" Mowry III, and the brother of the late Richard and Rhoda Mowry.
