Thaddaeus “Tad” Omweg, 52, of North Smithfield, died March 7, 2026 at Landmark Medical Center. Born in Santa Barbara, CA, he was the son of John W. Omweg, Sr, of Santa Barbara, and Anne Marie Omweg of North Smithfield. Tad worked in construction at Jimmy J’s Building Corp. Because of his great love of the outdoors, Tad enjoyed hiking, swimming, camping and fishing, and he was known for his love of music, movies, comedy, and a good historical book. Tad was a friend of Bill W.
Laughter was important to Tad, and he had a beautiful gift of the comic, which brought happiness to his family, especially to his children: Devony Omweg of Wappinger Falls, NY; Ocean and Vivienne Tessier of Coventry, and Olivia Tessier of Hartford, CT; his siblings, Gregory Omweg and his wife, Kathaya, of Livermore, CA; Sean Omweg, Jr, of Santa Clara, CA; David Omweg of North Smithfield; Catherine Omweg and her spouse, Jesse Canright of Portland, OR; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2026, beginning with a visitation at 4pm, followed by a service at 7pm in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will be private.
