Theresa "Tracey" F. Smith Dorry, 81, longtime resident of North Smithfield, passed away March 26, 2025 in the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Walter Smith, Sr. and Annette (Trudeau) Smith.
Tracey attended St. Joseph School of Nursing, received a Bachelor's Degree from Rhode Island College, and earned her Master's Degree from Texas Women's University, Houston, TX. She worked as a Registered Nurse for the Woonsocket School Dept. for twenty-five years, retiring in 2010. Tracey was a member of the Board of Directors for the RI Certified School Nurse Association, and in 2004, she was named RI School Nurse of the Year.
After retirement, she found joy in attending theater performances and movies with friends and traveling around the world. She visited 6 continents over the years visiting China, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, South America, and almost all of Europe, as well as many other exotic locations.
She is survived by her son William A. Dorry, IV and his wife, Cassandra Stetkiewicz, of North Smithfield; a granddaughter, Reyna Dorry of North Smithfield; a brother, Walter Smith, Jr. of Bristol; a sister, Nancy Coletta of Scituate; as well as, her niece and nephews, Dan, Monique, Mark, Erik, and John. She was the mother of the late Michael Dorry; and sister of the late Marguerite "Peggy" Loiselle, and Suzanne Allison.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 4, 2025 at 10 AM in Holy Trinity Parish, 1409 Park Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Precious Blood Cemetery, Rathbun St., Woonsocket. Calling hours are Thursday from 4 - 7 PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket.
