Viviane Ayotte Obituary

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Viviane G. (Richer) Ayotte, 89, of Blackstone, MA, who peacefully left us on November 18, 2024, at Milford Regional Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of Leonelle Ayotte for 64 wonderful years.

Viviane was born in Woonsocket, RI, the daughter of the late Donat and Lucia (Roy) Richer. She lived a life filled with love, warmth, and devotion to her family. As a dedicated homemaker, Viviane’s greatest joy was in caring for her children and creating lasting memories with her loved ones. She worked as a stenographer for John Hancock Life Insurance Company, but it was her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, and sister that truly defined her.

Viviane cherished her time spent with family.  Her summers were spent every weekend at her mother’s cottage on Lake Hiawatha with all her children enjoying sun filled days swimming in the lake.  She loved taking to the road with her husband in their Winnebago to spend many weeks by the beautiful beaches of Cape Cod and Narragansett. One of her happiest places was their summer retreat in Quebec, Canada, where she and Leo created memories that lasted a lifetime. Her love of family extended to her precious time with her mother and sisters as she continued a tradition for decades on an adventure every Wednesday of visiting new places and simply enjoying their time together. These Wednesdays were sacred to all of them.  As a devout member of both Assumption Parish in Bellingham and Divine Mercy Parish in Blackstone, Viviane’s faith was an important part of her life. She was a woman who found joy in family gatherings, especially playing cards and games with her children. The laughs she enjoyed with all her children sitting around the table brought her so much happiness. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and never missed her daily soap operas.  Her heart always overflowed with gratitude, and she often said, "I love my life."

Viviane leaves behind her loving husband, Leonelle Ayotte, and their six children: Michael Ayotte and his wife Tina of Blackstone, David Ayotte of Bellingham, Janice Beauregard and her husband John of North Smithfield, Gerald Ayotte and his wife Diane of Plymouth, Lynn Schmitt and her husband Edward of Douglas, and Maureen Menard and her husband Thomas of Smithfield. She was the proud grandmother of ten grandchildren: Paige, Brooke, Aubrey, Ariel, Jordan, Jared, Colby, Eden, Jack, and Tess, and four great-grandchildren: Rhett, Harris, Fallon, and Noah. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Muriel Cote of North Smithfield and Jeanne Morin of Woonsocket, as well as many nieces and nephews. Viviane was predeceased by her siblings: Robert, Roger, Raymond, Gerald, and Estelle Richer.

Her family and friends will remember her as a kind and nurturing soul who brought light into every room. She will be deeply missed but forever in our hearts.

Her funeral will be held Monday, November 25, 2024 beginning at 10 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in her honor at 11 AM in Divine Mercy Parish at St. Paul’s Church, 48 St. Paul St., Blackstone, MA.
