Walter E. Baker

Walter E. Baker Jr., 84, of Harrisville, died Friday, September 1, 2023 surrounded by his family at home. He was the husband of Jean (Richardson) Baker for almost sixty years. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Walter and Mabel (Williams) Baker.

Walter owned and drove for Walt's Trucking, Inc., after he had worked as a farmer. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served from 1957-1959. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, going to car shows with his muscle car, the casino and spending time with his grandchildren.

Besides his wife, Jean, he is survived by their children, Deborah Peloquin and her husband, Marc of Woonsocket, Bruce and Kevin Baker, Jeffrey Baker and his wife, Angela all of Harrisville, Cheryl Baker of Woonsocket, and Mark Baker and his wife, Julie of Harrisville; his daughter in law, Betty Baker of North Smithfield; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Faith Baker Rasmusson.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 8, 2023 from 4-7PM, followed by a service at 7PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main Street, Woonsocket, RI 02895. Burial will be private.
