Walter "Buz" H. Sawyer Jr.

Walter "Buz" H. Sawyer, 88, of North Smithfield, Rhode Island, died October 5, 2024 in Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Constance (Crooks) Sawyer. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Walter Sr. and Elin (Lindstedt) Sawyer.

Buz worked as a dispatcher for Narragansett Electric. He was a member of American Power Dispatchers, North Smithfield Ambulance Association, RI Pilots Association and NS History Book Committee. He was a constable for the NS Police and a past president for the NS Chamber of Commerce. He coached Little League and Youth Hockey.

He is survived by his three sons, Walter H. Sawyer III, and his wife Judith of Mount Vernon, ME, Phillip A. Sawyer Sr., and his wife Renay of North Smithfield, and Russell H. Sawyer and his wife Amy of Pittsburg, PA; two brothers, Thomas Sawyer of , NY and Robert Sawyer of Warwick; and four grandchildren, Kayla and Phillip Sawyer, and Joseph and John Sawyer. He was predeceased by his sisters Barbara Connolly, Gertrude Dell Erario and Marilyn Follett.
