William J. "Billy" Powers, 88, of Blackstone, passed away November 21, 2025 at home. He was the husband of Carolyn (Johnson) Powers whom he married May 2, 1964. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Priscilla (Helm) Powers.
Mr. Powers was a Navy Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars, serving on the Heavy cruiser U.S.S. Macon, which he looked at as some of the best years of his life. William worked as a cement truck driver for Rosenfeld Concrete, was a member of the Teamsters Local 170 and worked with his son at Triple A Super Coat Sealcoating. He was a member of the Montgomery Masons of Milford for many years, and the Woonsocket Elks. He enjoyed snowmobiling in Maine, clamming in Chatham, MA, trips to Puerto Rico, and found so much joy in spending time with his grandchildren.
Along with his wife, Carolyn, he is survived by a daughter, Kelly Gillis and her life partner, Jeff Silverstein of Blackstone and a son, Kevin Powers and his wife, Leslie Roth, of Millville; three grandchildren, Ariel Drew and her husband, Robert, and Grant and Sloane Powers; a great granddaughter, Grace Drew; a sister-in-law, Audrey Hill, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Madeline Gauthier, Lucille Pulnik, and Edward and Claire Powers.
The family would like to give a special thank you to his personal care attendant, Noel St. Laurent, for all the care she gave Billy over the last year.
His burial, with Military Honors, will be held Friday, December 5, 2025 at 11 AM in Blackstone Cemetery, Mendon St., Blackstone. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394.
