Yvette M. (Roberge) Schenck, 92, formerly of Providence Pike, North Smithfield, died May 26, 2024 in St. Antoine Residence surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late Alfred E. Schenck. They were married on January 15, 1951, in St. Michael's Church, Georgiaville, RI and shared 66 years together until his passing in April 2017. Born in Stillwater, a suburb of Smithfield, RI, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Anna (Breton) Roberge.
Yvette was a graduate of Smithfield High School. In her earlier years, Yvette was a homemaker raising her 5 children. She later worked in local textile industries and most recently, before her retirement, she worked for Madison-Sandvik, Lincoln as a blue-print operator. Yvette was a long-time communicant of Holy Trinity Church (formerly Our Lady Queen of Martyrs), where she taught CCD for several years. She was involved with the Blackstone Valley Piecemakers Quilting Guild, at one time serving as their president. Yvette enjoyed oil painting, quilting, and knitting, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She leaves her children, Dr. Allen Schenck and his wife, LaVonne, of Scituate; four daughters, Norma Plante of San Diego, CA, Suzanne Levitre and her husband, Thomas, of Blackstone, Annette Tessier, and her husband, David, of North Smithfield, and Carolyn Basierbe of South Lyon, MI; her seven grandchildren, Kenneth, Justin, Nicole, Michelle, Thomas, Jr., Alex, and Lynette; four great grandchildren, Cody, Parker, Tyler, and Mateo; her sister, Theresa Rogeski of Woonsocket; and many nieces and nephews. She lovingly included into her extended family Jeff, Missy, Kayla, David and Joel. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Raymond Roberge and Normand Roberge, two sisters, Claire Lalonde and Cecile Roberge and her son-in-law, David Basierbe.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024, beginning with visitation from 9 -10:30 AM in the Holt Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in Holy Trinity Church, 1409 Park Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Antoine Residence, 10 Rhodes Ave., North Smithfield, RI 02896.
